нигер

нигер is a highly offensive Russian racial slur for a Black person. Its direct English equivalent is nigger, which is likewise an extremely offensive slur. Avoid using it except when quoting, discussing language, or accurately translating material.

A neutral, respectful Russian alternative is чернокожий человек (“a Black person”); depending on context, темнокожий (“dark-skinned”) may also be used. The word was borrowed through Western European language forms historically associated with “black,” but in modern Russian it is widely perceived as derogatory.
